The Bun Defence Operations Centre
This is the watch floor. On a wide screen it fills the window; on a wall it fills the wall. Add ?wall to the address for a kiosk: no cursor, and a portrait layout for a screen turned on its side.
What is live
- Intercepts. Hacker News comments and stories from the last 24 hours that contain the word “bun”, and Bluesky posts that do. The latest are quoted, without names or handles. We do not ask which kind of bun.
- The seismograph. Bluesky’s public posts are read as they are made, and the ones that say “bun” are counted against all of them, minute by minute. Most minutes read zero. That is the campaign working.
- The Bun runtime. The latest release of the JavaScript runtime called Bun, from its public release list.
- Readership. Daily Wikipedia readers of the articles on the bun, the hamburger, the hot cross bun and the Norwegian bolle.
- The press. How many of NRK’s top stories mention buns. Usually none.
- The Bun Threat Index, from Hacker News job postings.
All counts are real. Bluesky is counted every minute, Hacker News every five, Wikipedia once a day. The threat level is not measured. It does not need to be.
